Introduction. Hmmmmbug is not the Caterpillar from Alice in Wonderland. Or maybe she is.
'Who are you?' said the Caterpillar.
Alice replied, rather shyly, ‘I—I hardly know, sir, just at present— at least I know who I was when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then.
‘What do you mean by that?’ said the Caterpillar sternly. ‘Explain yourself!’‘I can’t explain myself, I’m afraid, sir’ said Alice, ‘because I’m not myself, you see.’
‘I don’t see,’ said the Caterpillar.
Hmmmmbug asked me who i am. She tried to see. Did she see? At least she cared to look. Whatever.
The Caterpillar likes to believe he is right. Likes to speak its mind. And all through the metamorphosis, tries to hold onto what he thought was himself.
She drew herself up and said, very gravely, ‘I think, you ought to tell me who you are, first.’
‘Why?’ said the Caterpillar.
I dont know either. None of us know why. We long to be understood but can never part with what we are. Let go of our secrets. Be insecure.
Hmmmmbug is waiting for her wings to sprout.
hmmmm.....
ReplyDeleteAnd a really nice invitation for her to sprout those wings, come to an understanding of what she is and the more of what she isn't, to delve deeper and yet being scared of the edges, and yet she dreams...
we live in our dreams... we are more alive and true in our dreams... whoever told dreams were false... we fall asleep the moment wake up from them...
ReplyDeleteand well, as to what you are and what you are not... i am pompous enough to comment on that yet... its a the biggest darnest lie to say that we understand someone completely and a bigger one yet to say that you understand yourself fully... none of us do... we never will... thats why we live... with a vain faint hope... to be understood and to understand....
its just that, that faint hope gains strength in the company of a few handful...the few who dont ask questions, just inquire...dont draw conclusions...just try to get close. a step here and a step there...before the picture fades into the next!
ReplyDeletebut do we really have to try to get close... or does it happen all by itself... perhaps unconsciously or whatever... its a beautifully complex thing... but then i guess trying at least shows that you care, and that does help...
ReplyDeletei undrstnd ur unconscious happenings and i wish all of dt cud happn on its own..bt sumtyms u hv gt to act..to mk them feel important, special, cared for, loved for..and most importantly that sumthng is felt for them...
